BUTORPHANOL

Posted by Gopalakrishnan

How safe is butorphanol pharmacologically?Does anybody use this in the EM?
How does it compare with Tramadol,Pethidine,Morphine?

We have used Butorphanol(Inj.Butrum available as 1mg and 2 mg IV) sparingly in patients with colicky pain of urinary tract origin with excellent results but the almost instantaneous vomitting was what discouraged me from sticking to it zealously.

Looking forward to inputs please

Never used it. A med representative did give it to us though. 1mg and 2mg ampoules. Maybe we should try it. Lets see. Wink
